YAY!! Farmhouse Table Finished!

Our farmhouse table.
I bought this table and chairs at a thrift store across the street for around $100.00. As soon as I could, I started sanding… and sanding. After I finally sanded through all of the finish on the legs and sides of the table, Cole and I went to Lowe’s and bought 6- 2x6x10 ft untreated boards. I sanded those also. I took a some old nails/screws and “beat up” the boards. We scratched and hammered and nailed the boards to give them a little character. I then stained the boards with Minwax in Special Walnut (224). After a few coats of stain, Cole and I finally decided on a color we liked. Once dry, Cole helped me screw the boards to the top of the table with 3 inch wood screws. I painted the legs and sides of the table with Valspar flat interior paint in an antique white color. I also went over the legs with an oil-based glaze I mixed with a metallic brown. We finished the table with 2 coats of Wipe-On Polyurethane! I  could not be happier with our new kitchen table.

All finished. I nailed little hooks on the back and hung those on nails and now it hangs in our kitchen!

Supplies for knife strip:
Old board (cut nails flush with the board using a dremel)
Magnetic strips (Although it has a sticky side, I used hot glue and a tiny nail on either end to keep the strips in place)
